About Dj Stokie

DJ Stokie, whose real name is Setoki Mbatha started his career in the 90’s from his room in Mzimhlophe. The self-taught music maestro is inspired by the likes of Soweto’s top DJ’s; Mpopo, Fetsi, Ma-Leven, Mahlomola, Mdoo, amongst others. Stokie’s success traces back to 2006 when he became a finalist in the Mad Half Hour, a feature on Joburg’s popular youth station, YFM.

2019 has been a blessing as he was choosen to be the Brand Advocate for the Carling Black Label Cup and performed for 90000 people @Soccer City also known as FNB Stadium. The station’s listeners were inspired by his piano fingers and Stokie found himself gigging in townships across Johannesburg. Today, he plays alongside some of SA’s music legends – DJ Christos, Vinni da Vinci, Ralf Gum, China. Stokie host a weekly slot, every Monday at 5:05pm at Johannesburg’s biggest regional radio station, Jozi FM.

Stokie’s debut album, Amapiano Movement Volume 1 Mixed by DJ Stokie showcases a unique mix selection of vocal drum and tribal bass, which unearths a progressive Amapiano sound.
